German Heavy Mortar Unit

This Mortar unit contains 3 squads of two models making up three heavy mortars.

The primary German heavy mortar used during World War II was the 8 cm Granatwerfer 34. Introduced in the mid-1930s, this mortar had a caliber of 81mm and was a versatile and widely used weapon in the German Army. It was commonly deployed at the infantry battalion level to provide indirect fire support. The 8 cm Granatwerfer 34 had a simple and effective design, with a smoothbore barrel and a bipod for stability. It fired a variety of mortar shells, including high-explosive, smoke, and illumination rounds. The mortar played a crucial role in supporting German infantry by providing effective and mobile firepower on the battlefield. Its adaptability and reliability made it a valuable asset in various combat situations during World War II.

Why add it to your army?

The heavy mortar can be a game changer. It fires like artillery so allows you to shower your enemy with high explosives from almost anywhere on the battlefield. While it is of limited use against more heavily armoured targets, it can cause havoc with infantry, artillery and transports.

When you purchase this unit you will also receive online access to the 'artillery' add on rules for our 'simple rules' so that you can fully experience the benefit of adding this to your army.
